Bio

Jessica McCann grew up in Cayuga, where she attended high school, before going on to earn her degree at the University of Texas at Tyler. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a teacher, a passion that guided her to a career in education that now spans two decades. She initially taught elementary school for 15 years before transitioning into a photography teacher role at Frankston. After developing an interest in photography herself, she turned her hobby into a successful business, McCann Photography, and brought that passion to her students in the FISD photography program.

Having taught at Frankston for four years and in education for over 19 years overall, Mrs. McCann finds the greatest reward in knowing she has made a difference in students’ lives. She cherishes moments when students share how she’s positively impacted them. A highlight of her teaching journey is watching students experience “ah-ha” moments when they grasp a new concept. Her role models in teaching, Coach Bo Quarles and Mrs. Sharon Martinez, shaped her approach by combining rigorous standards with a sense of adventure in learning, a balance she strives to bring to her classroom.

Outside of teaching, Mrs. McCann enjoys playing pickleball and spending time with her two children, Madeline and Walker, in their various activities. A beach lover at heart, her dream is to someday own a beach house in the Caribbean, where she can indulge her love of the ocean. Until then, she finds motivation in the daily successes of her students and continues to nurture their creativity in the classroom.
